I always enjoy shooting at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. Not only is it a nice and cozy reception hall in Tilden Park but it also has some gorgeous spots to photograph next door at the Botanic Garden. I have known Anita for a very long time and it was a pleasure photographing her wedding. It is so happy to not only share the special day with her and Nick but to also provide her with memories of their momentous day.
It is always a pleasure to assist the great Ed Pingol. Justin and Sarai had their ceremony at St Josephs in Pinole and the reception took place at HS Lordships at the Berkeley Marina. I shot the whole day with just the Canon 40mm pancake lens on my 5d mark iii and here are some of the results.
I love the Berkeley Brazilian Room as a wedding reception venue. It’s not too far away nestled in Tilden Park in Berkeley making it somewhat easy to get to. Best of all, there are great spots in the trees and garden area for portraits. As the morning fog cleared up, the sunny blue skies opened up just in time for the ceremony.
It makes my job much more enjoyable when I can see that the bride and groom are easy going and relaxed and can truly enjoy the special day. This was obvious from the start as the bride and groom started getting ready in the same hotel room! It’s also great to see when the guests are having a blast during the dancing as well as during… wait for it… flipcup, yes flipcup. This was the first wedding that I have photographed where flipcup was played and it was awesome.
