Yosemite

August 10, 2011

In addition to being wedding season, summer is also a great time to go enjoy the great outdoors. I have not been to Yosemite in over ten years and I was amazed all over again by the gorgeous scenery. Due to the large amount of rainfall last winter, the waterfalls were flowing with plenty of water and made for a great experience.

Alamere Falls

April 29, 2009

I made another trip to Point Reyes but this time the destination was Alamere Falls. It is actually located in Bolinas, CA in Marin County near Point Reyes. The Alamere Falls is a nice little waterfall that falls out onto the beach. It was a super nice weekend because it was really warm and actually a little too warm. The hike is about a 8.6 mile, 4 hour hike roundtrip and it was a good hike. It was not easy at all but also not super hard. We brought our lunch and ate it at the beach and it was a nice day with no wind at all. The weekend before, I also went to Point Reyes at the Lighthouse and it was super windy.

Carrying a big bag full of camera, lens, and a tripod definitely is not fun and landscape photography is definitely not on the top of my list. Landscape and wildlife photographers deserve a lot of credit for bringing tons of equipment when they make long hikes out for those special shots.

The main Alamere waterfall seen above flows out to the beach facing the Pacific Ocean. The hike down to the beach is the hardest part of the hike as it is pretty steep, and not maintained. There are also two other waterfall sections before the big drop and those make for good shots as well. More info about the hike can be found here.
